Well, what a week it has been. On Monday, I announced here that Pearl Verses the World had been named Best Children’s Book in the Indie Book of the Year Awards, and thus also shortlisted for the title of Book of the Year.

Now, on Friday, Pearl has also been shortlisted in the Children’s Book category (Mary Ryan Award) in the Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards. I’m walking on air.

Apart from the recognition of these nominations, the thing that has really brought me joy this week is the number of wonderful messages of support and congratulation from peers, friends, family and even strangers. It means a lot to me.
