Poetry Friday: More Holiday Snaps

February 26, 2016 by Sally

It’s Poetry Friday and I’m still thinking about my holiday to Singapore, even though I’ve been back for a month.

This first photo was taken at Universal Studios on Sentosa Island. There are two roller coasters in one – known as duelling roller coasters because both run at the same time – and yes, I rode them both, with one of my sons. So much fun! And just a little bit frightening.

This second poem was taken from a Bum Boat as we cruised down the river.

What a wonderful way to re-experience a vacation–through poem pictures. (I actually did that as well after our one-and-only vacation to Hawaii, a few years ago.) Your night city photo and poem are gorgeous. Pure delight indeed!

Thanks Violet. It’s a fun way to record memories, isn’t it?

Wow, that roller coaster is amazing. I like “let’s battle our doubts”, & think I would like the doing. We had a day with students at the local amusement park & I still rode them a few years ago. What a lovely vacation you had! Love the pictures, & the second poem, too. Wonder what Singapore looks like from space?

Sally, the first image is an amazing one of grandeur but oh so scary for me-not at all a rollercoaster maven. The second one calls to me as deeply as New York City does. Makes me want to take a ride into the city this weekend. I would love to add your second one to my upcoming gallery, Winter Wanderings. I think it will fit in perfectly. Will you offer it, please. I will need the location at the bottom of the photo. Please let me know at cvarsalona (gmail). Thanks Sally for sharing your stunning photos and poems.

Thanks Linda. It’s been a long term goal of mine to go an a good sized roller coaster. I wasn’t disappointed.

Two beautiful photos; dual so-different poems. (Glad they don’t duel like the roller coasters.) The second one reads like a photo caption one might write on a post card sent to friends or loved ones back home, making them wish they were seeing the sights in person, right along side you! The first one makes me queasy just reading, such is my fear…I am so admiring of your intestinal fortitude to brave not one, but two, rides. Thank you for sharing more of your poetic-photo-adventures! God bless you!

Thankyou! I have always loved the rides – funnily, some of my children, and my husband, don’t, so I was fortunate one brave teen came along with me. We kept each other company and stopped each other chickening out.

More wonderful pictures! Thanks for sharing. And, for the first one, it would be fear for me. Used to love those things as a teenager, but now…. I’ll hold your purse while you go, okay? You and all your crazy-adventurous countrymen (& women)! :0)
