Welcome to Poetry Friday. Poetry Friday, as a day which celebrates/promotes/savours/espouses poetry, is always special. But this one is extra special for me because I now officially own poetry. Don’t believe me? Well, I have the certificate to prove it:
Of course, as magnanimous as I am, I am happy to share poetry with whoever loves it – and whoever doesn’t yet love it, too. If I kept it all to myself, the world would be a poorer place.Β But, to celebrate my acquisition, here’s a poem about poetry (a meta-poem) which I wrote earlier this year for the Poetry Tag blog I share with my friend Rebecca.
If you’d like to own a word of your own and support chidlren’s literacy, head to Own a Word.
And, if you are are looking for more poetry goodness, today’s Poetry Friday roundup isΒ at Buffy’s Blog.
Thanks for sharing! I’d like to borrow…often!!
It’s good to know that there’s someone signed on to be the official steward of Poetry. I count on you to look after it when the rest of us are too busy, and thanks for sharing.
But I don’t know how I feel about this idea of ownership… ; )
lol, thanks Heidi
What a great way to raise money for children’s literacy! You’ve picked a fine word to call your own. Luckily, there’s enough poetry to go around.
You’re right Michelle. And poetry needs to be shared.
What a fun idea! I think I’d like to own “crow.”
Interesting choice DIane π
Thanks for willingly sharing what you own!
What a fun way to raise money! I would kind of like to own “flibbertigibbet.” π
lol. That would be a great one to own, Tabatha π
I have a box full of words (from teaching) & students filled the file cabinets with their poems-always thoughtful & surprising. Love that “champagne embrace’, Sally!
ThanksLinda π
What a great initiative!…”Poetry” is in good hands with you as its “owner,” ‘specially since you’re willing to share…Your poetry meta-poem offers many other words worth owning: luscious, embrace, music, dance, joy, and embrace are among my favorites! …God bless you! Thank you so much for an uplifting PF post!
Hey there, Sally.
Appreciations for sharing this fun way to share about the program to help young people.
Thanks Jan π
