A New Book!

February 29, 2012 by Sally

Happy happy day! I am really thrilled, excited, delighted, happy and ecstatic to announce that today marks the release of my new book baby, Do Not Forget Australia, published by Walker Books and illustrated by the extraordinarily talented Sonia Kretchsmar.

I was lucky enough to speak at the Perth Writer’s Festival on the weekend, and got the chance to share Do Not Forget Australia with people there. You can see just how happy I am about the book!

To celebrate the new release, I am off on a blog tour over the next couple of weeks. I will be visiting lots of different blogs to talk about the book, where the idea for it came from, how I wrote it, and more. Sonia will also be talking about her own role.

The tour starts today at the blog of my lovely friend Claire Saxby. I am so happy to start the tour there and to talk about friends, because this is a story about friendship, and it is fitting that I start the tour on such a wonderful friend’s blog. The rest of the tour will visit the following blogs:

Busy Week

January 18, 2012 by Sally

I’m having a busy week (who am I kidding? Every week is a busy week) but just wanted to share a couple of exciting happenings.

Firstly, on Sunday the new-look Aussiereviews went live. I’ve been running the site for over ten years, focusing on reviewing Australian books, and the site was well overdue for an overhaul. My lovely daughter did the new design, and I spent quite a bit of time transferring over 2300 reviews from the old html individual files over to a much easier content management system. Check out the new look here and read a little more about the overhaul here.
In other exciting news, Monday brought me that thin that makes every author’s heart sing – an advance copy of my newest book-baby.  Check out the beautiful cover! Sonia Kretschmar‘s illustrations are simply stunning.
Do Not Forget Australia will be released by Walker Books on March 1, but if you simply can’t wait, you can preorder your copy here.
Hope your week is just as funfilled and exciting as mine is proving to be!

Good News

September 29, 2011 by Sally

It’s been a good news week for me:
First, my newest book-baby Head Hog, published by Koala Books and illustrated by the wonderful Ben Wood snuck out into the world – being released without me knowing!  This one has been a long time coming, so I’m thrilled to see it finally on sale. The tiny bit of bad news there is that a distribution glitch means it is only available directly through the publisher’s website at the moment,  so you won’t see it in any stores at the moment. But it can be bought online from this link.
Secondly, the proofs for my new picture book, Do Not ForgetAustralia, illustrated by Sonia Kretschmar and due to be published by WalkerBooks in March, arrived in today’s mail. I am so excited about the illustrations and design or this book and can’t wait to show it to the world.
I’ve also been busy setting up a new website, aimed at young fans of my books. You can check it out here and, if a child in your life has read any of my books, I would love to hear their reviews or questions through the site.
Hope your week is going well, too J
