Australian author Christopher Cheng, who is also a literacy ambassador for National Literacy and Numeracy Week has started a new blog, newkidsbooksinoz, which highlights new children’s book releases.

Notes From the Slush Pile is a UK-based blog which reports on all aspects of the children’s book industry, including marketing and promotion. Lots of useful information, and plenty of time wasters to click on and enjoy.

The Cybils – the Children’s and Young Adult Bloggers Literary Awards – are now open for nominations. Nominate your favourite children’s or YA book published in 2008, or simply browse the nominations (and comments) for some reading recommendations.

Lazy Sunday

Bit of a slow day today. Had a bit of a sleep in, then puttered through the day. Have only managed 8000 steps (to 9.45pm), after over 12000 yesterday.

I did get some reading done, though. Finished The Shadow Thief and have the review written and ready to upload. Also read a little chapter book, Alexandra Aphrodite, part of Lothian’s Giggles series of short chapter books. Am now part way through The Melting Pot, by Chris Cheng, part of Scholastic’s My Australian Story series.

Didn’t get back to Roberto’s story, though he’s there on my shoulder chipping in with little witticisms and prodding me to continue his adventures. Tomorrow, Roberto. For today, I’ve rested and spent time with my Murphlets.
